In cursul acestei dupa-amieze, compania Apple a trimis un nou comunicat de presa prin care ne anunta cateva noi cifre record pe care le-a stabilit App Store, propriul sau magazin virtual de aplicatii prezent pe iPhone, iPad si Mac. Compania americana ne anunta ca utilizatorii sai au cheltuit 10 miliarde de dolari in App Store de-a lungul anului 2013, compania platind de la lansarea magazinului si pana acum dezvoltatorilor un total de 15 miliarde $. Facand o comparatie, la WWDC 2013, Apple ne anunta ca dezvoltatorii de aplicatii au castigat pana in momentul respectiv 10 miliarde $, venituri venite din vanzarile titlurilor si in-app purchase-uri, totalul crescand in numai 6 luni cu 5 miliarde de dolari.
Partea si mai interesanta pe care o regasim in comunicatul de presa trimis acum de catre Apple este ca 1 miliard de dolari au fost cheltuiti de utilizatorii App Store numai in luna decembrie, luna in care utilizatorii au descarcat 3 miliarde de aplicatii noi, facand-o si cea mai de succes luna din intreaga istorie a App Store.
Acelasi comunicat de presa ne ofera informatii si despre cateva aplicatii de succes in anul 2013, pe diferite tari, in lista destul de scurta fiind cuprinsa si Romania. La noi in tara, jocurile celor de la Atypical Games s-au remarcat in anul tocmai incheiat. Romania nu este mentionata prea des in comunicatele de presa ale Apple, iar compania americana nici nu i-a acordat o atentie prea mare pana acum, fiind posibil ca 2014 sa fie anul in care romanii se vor putea bucura de mai multe servicii Apple.
App Store ofera in prezent peste 1 milion de aplicatii create pentru utilizatorii iPhone, iPad si iPod touch din 155 de tari, inclusiv Romania. Din totalul de 1 milion de aplicatii, mai bine de jumatate sunt optimizate pentru ecranele mari ale iPad.
Astfel de comunicate de presa sunt importante mai ales pentru dezvoltatorii de aplicatii, care isi pot face usor o perspectiva asupra viitorului magazinului App Store. Chiar daca alte magazine de aplicatii se bucura de un numar mai mare de utilizatori, cum ar fi Google Play, dezvoltatorii prefera solutia celor de la Apple, deoarece utilizatorii de iOS si OS X platesc mult mai mult pentru a cumpara continut, iar aplicatiile sunt mai usor de optimizat pentru numai doua versiuni majore a sistemului de operare, pe care le utilizeaza aproape toata populatia de iPhone, iPad sau iPod touch.

CUPERTINO, California―January 7, 2014―Apple® today announced that customers spent over $10 billion on the App Store℠ in 2013, including over $1 billion in December alone. App Store customers downloaded almost three billion apps in December making it the most successful month in App Store history. Developers such as Evernote, Yahoo!, AirBnB, OpenTable, Tumblr, Pinterest and American Airlines re-imagined the user experience, bringing content to the forefront while increasing the overall efficiency and performance of their apps.
2013 saw surprise hits like Ellen DeGeneres’ Heads Up, ProtoGeo’s Moves, Simon Filip’s Afterlight and Kevin Ng’s Impossible Road. Many of the year’s biggest successes like Candy Crush Saga, Puzzles & Dragons, Minecraft, QuizUp and Clumsy Ninja were created by international developers, while Duolingo (United States), Simogo (Sweden), Frogmind (UK), Plain Vanilla Corp (Iceland), Atypical Games (Romania), Lemonista (China), BASE (Japan) and Savage Interactive (Australia) emerged as developers to watch in 2014.
