Apple s-a aratat de multe ori ca fiind o companie deloc marinimoasa, preferand sa stranga cat mai multi bani si sa isi vanda produsele la un pret care, de multe ori, mai mult sau mai putin justificat, depaseste pretul altor produse similare de pe piata. Cu toate acestea, insa, atunci cand au fost mari dezastre naturele, cei din Cupertino au sprijinit persoanele afectate ori au contribuit la diferite campanii umanitare.
Dupa cum probabil ati aflat cu totii, zilele trecute a avut loc un adevarat dezastru in sud-vestul Chinei, un cutremur cu magnitudinea de 6,1 curmand vietile a cateva sute de persoane, afectand integritatea fizica a catorva mii si distrugand numeroase bunuri materiale. Fiind o tara extrem de importanta si cu potential major pentru orice corporatie, compania Apple a dorit sa faca un gest care probabil nu ar trebui sa fie trecut cu vederea. Cei din Cupertino au donat 10 milioane de yuani (echivalentul a aproximativ 1,6 milioane de dolari) pentru a sustine eforturile autoritatilor locale de a reface zonele afectate de dezastru.
Tim Cook, directorul general al companiei Apple, a trimis si el un e-mail catre angajatii companiei prin care isi exprima tot sprijinul pentru cei afectat, mentionand numarul angajatilor Apple din Republica Populara Chineza si Hong Kong si ajutorul pe care compania il ofera celor aflati in probleme. In China, de exemplu, aceeasi companie americana a mai facut o donatie mai mare decat aceasta anul trecut, cand a avut loc un alt cutremur devastator, iar acest lucru este demn de toata lauda.
